Small Parts

What's the difference between Replacement screws and Repair Screws?
Replacement screws are used when the frame components have not been damaged (stripped threads). A repair screw is self tapping and creates new threads in damaged frame components such as hinges, eyewires and pad arms.

How do I know what replacement screw to use?

The Hilco Index contains a list of thousands of frames and what replacement screws and nosepads are used on each frame.

Another tool used for identifying a part is the Fast Find Screw and Hole Gauge (#20-012). This tool identifies the proper length and diameter of the screw you need by measuring the hardware on the frame.

General rules: 1.4mm is always a good starting point when using the trial and error approach to finding screws for hinges and eyewires. A 1.0mm screw is the best starting point for the pad arms.

What Type of Nosepads Should I Inventory?
Logic Nosepads help keep your nosepad inventory levels down with it's patented Dual Purpose insert that fits both screw-on and push-on pad arms. It's symmetrical design also eliminates lefts and rights. This four piece nose pad system replaces the need for 20 pads you may normally inventory.

It takes a long time to find replacement parts or to train new employees how to find them. How can I efficiently find replacement parts or teach someo
An organized approach to small part is the best way to find the replacement part you need. Smart System Pro (#00-747) is an organized system of high usage small parts in a compact five drawer tower. It comes with a Hilco Index to identify the part needed. It also helps train personnel to find replacement part faster than looking for them in a drawer, tray or box full of parts. It also helps you inventory the parts you need eliminating the guesswork of single item ordering.

How do EqualEyes differ from basic drug store readers?
Drug store readers are supplied with the same power in each eye, while most patients require different corrections in individual eyes. Also, PDs are typically fixed at 64 mm, regardless of frame size. The EqualEyes system provides ten different lens powers (including plano) to offer your patients any number of combinations to match the Rx requirements of each eye as closely as possible. For greater wearing comfort, EqualEyes PDs range from 58mm to 64mm.

How are EqualEyes readers intended to be used?
EqualEyes are designed to supplement a custom-made pair of spectacles. They are the ideal spare pair for short-term use and can be kept conveniently around the house, in the office or car, on the boat, at the gym, etc.

Should I recommend EqualEyes to my patients as a primary pair of reading glasses?
No. Nothing can replace a custom-made pair of reading glasses to match a patient's precise prescription and eye positions. For a spare pair or two, however, EqualEyes provides your patients with better optics, high quality, and contemporary styling at a reasonable price. EqualEyes is your patient's best bet for a spare pair.

What do I get when I order an EqualEyes "system"?
